Hotel Okura Fukuoka – Hakata Macaron “Iki” –
Born from the desire to create a confection that embodies the spirit of Hakata, the Hakata macarons “Iki” were created. The exquisite treat is not only a perfect souvenir for Fukuoka and Kyushu but also makes an elegant gift on special occasions.
Among Hakata-ori textiles with a history of over 780 years, the “Kenjogara” pattern stands out as the most iconic and recognizable, representing the rich heritage and craftsmanship of Hakata-ori.
The pattern has been beautifully reproduced on the surface of macarons, and the three flavors represent the ingredients grown in the rich climate of Fukuoka and Kyushu. Pink from the “Amao” strawberry, green from the “Yame” green tea, and yello from the “Yuzu” (Japanese citrus fruit), which pairs perfectly with the cream in the middle.
The Hakata “Kenjogara” pattern carries auspicious meanings such as “family safety” and “warding off bad luck.” As an auspicious gift, it is sure to be favored for festive or celebratory occasions.

Hotel Nikko Nara – Shofuku Miso –
Hotel Nikko Nara has been offering a variety of attractive breakfast menus that remind us of “Nara” .
These menus are built around the concept of gastronomy tourism, which aims to allow guests to experience the local food culture by enjoying dishes prepared with ingredients nurtured by the region’s climate and steeped in its customs and traditions.
“Kasu-jiru”, originally served to participants in the Setsubun event “Tsuina Ceremony” at Kofuku-ji Temple, was recreated and added to the hotel’s breakfast menu under the supervision of Kofuku-ji Temple. The dish proved so popular among guests that the hotel began selling it as a souvenir the following year.
The key to the product’s enduring popularity, even 10 years since its launch, is that the miso contains soup stock, allowing you to easily recreate the taste of the hotel at home by simply dissolving it in hot water. Purchasers also receive a copy of the “Shofuku Miso Original Recipe,” created by the hotel chef. This recipe can be used not only for “Kofukuji’s Kasujiru” but also for a wide variety of other dishes.
