Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art is currently hosting a Special Exhibition in Commemoration of the Relocation of Kyoto City University of Arts “The Birthplace of Great Masters: Modern Japanese Paintings in Kyoto.” The museum is ideally situated just a 20-minute walk from the Hotel Okura Kyoto, with masterpieces by over 40 renowned Japanese artists, along with rare documents from the Meiji Period (1868 – 1912) and the Showa Period (1926 – 1989). The exhibition offers precious insights into student life and art education for these eras.

November 15 marks Japan’s Shichi-Go-San (7-5-3) festival for kids nationwide.
　
On this day, girls aged 3 and 7 wear kimonos and visit shrines with their families, along with boys aged 5 (hence the 7-5-3 name) to pray for healthy growth. There’s often a nice family meal and a formal photo session with everyone in beautiful formal attire.
　
You might see lots of cute children in cool kimonos at shrines in Japan at this time of year for the event.
