Arashiyama “Chikurin-no-Komichi” Bamboo Forest Path (Kyoto)

A path winds through a bamboo grove, a representative landscape of Arashiyama, Kyoto. Bamboo has been considered auspicious since ancient times as a symbol of ‘life force’ due to its rapid growth, straight form, and evergreen nature. The pathway through the bamboo grove is a beautiful natural healing spot where you can immerse yourself in the verdant life force and freshness of the bamboo all around.

Nambayasaka Shrine (Osaka)

Namba Yasaka Shrine is located in Namba, Osaka. The most eye-catching feature of the shrine is the great Shishi (lion) that opens its mouth on the west side of the shrine grounds.

The lion’s wide-open mouth is believed to swallow evil spirits and bring good fortune. People from all over the country visit to pray for success in sports, school admissions, employment, academic achievement, and business prosperity.

The Goshikizuka tumulus (Kobe, Hyogo)

Goshikizuka tumulus is a mysterious spot that suddenly appears in a quiet residential area overlooking the Akashi Strait from the mountainside of Tarumi, Kobe. It is the largest burial mound in Hyogo Prefecture. Goshikizuka Kofun Tumulus is a valuable kofun tumulus that can be seen as it was when it was built, with thatched stones and haniwa terra-cotta clay figures laid out. The buried person is still unknown and mysterious.

At the top of the mound, feeling the sea breeze and looking down on Awaji Island and the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge, it is fun to pretend to be the king of the land that once held so much power.

Asuka-mura (Takaichi, Nara)

Asuka Village in Nara is an ancient capital where Buddhist culture flourished during the Asuka Period (late 5th century to early 7th century) and the foundation of Japan as a civilized nation was laid.

The village is dotted with important historical sites such as Asuka-dera Temple, the oldest Buddhist temple in Japan, the Asuka Palace ruins, and a cluster of ancient tombs.
The entire village is subject to historic climate preservation by a special law for the preservation of archaeological sites and landscapes with their mysterious megaliths, each with its own legend, and terraced rice paddies and rural landscapes that have been preserved for 1,400 years.
